If Women Posed with Plants Like Men Pose with Fish

A botanical exploration of modern dating

If women posed with plants the way men pose with fish, dating apps would look very different.

Imagine it:
A woman, radiant under golden hour light, grinning wildly as she lifts a 3-foot fiddle leaf fig above her head like she just won the damn state fair.
Another, mid-hike, beaming with pride beside a rare wildflower she “caught” with zero bait and total intuitive charm.
And one more, holding up a freshly repotted pothos like it’s the prize from a weekend warrior goddess tournament.

Because if he gets to show his worth by holding a stunned trout over a glacier-fed river,
then she gets to show hers cradling a rescued rosemary bush that hasn’t stopped thriving since she whispered affirmations to it last full moon.

Let’s be honest—
if a photo of a man with a fish is supposed to say,
“I’m resourceful, patient, rugged, maybe even a provider,”
then what would the plant-pose say?

Maybe this:
“I’m nurturing, rooted, and deeply in touch with the cycles of life. I don’t conquer nature. I collaborate with it. I’m not here to hook you—I’m here to help you grow.”

Because tending to plants requires presence.
Listening.
Daily attention.
It’s not one dramatic catch for the camera.
It’s an ongoing, living relationship.

And isn’t that what most of us are actually looking for?

So the next time I see yet another profile with a man, a fish, and a forced grin…
I’ll be over here, drinking tea and tequila, barefoot in my garden, misting my monstera, holding space for something deeper.

No bait.
No bragging.
Just roots.
